Ennis O. Bobbitt (NVHS)

Ennis O'brian Bobbitt passed at the age of 28, just a week before our 10 year reunion, on Sept. 22, 2002.  He has three daughters, Joselyn, Brianna, and Eniyah and one son, Trevious Foster.

William 'Buck' Clayborne (SVHS)

STOVAL — William Ray “Buck” Clayborne, 37, of 4138 Wilson Town Road, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at his home. Born on July 26, 1973, in Vance County, he was the son of William Raymond Clayborne Jr. and Merle Adcock Clayborne of Henderson.

He was the owner and operator of Buck’s Tree Service and was a member of Freedom Life Church of God and also attended Stovall Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Billie Joe “Ivy” Latta Clayborne of the home; one son, William Ralph Clayborne of the home; one daughter, Kara Ray Clayborne of Henderson; one brother, Kenneth Wayne Clayborne of Henderson; and one step-daughter, Ivy Leigh Latta of the home.


Jermaine Ellison (SVHS)

Jermaine Ellison, 37, of 190 Kittrell Vance Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Durham County and was the son of Frank James and Jannie Wilson Ellison.

He joined Dickies Grove Baptist Church at an early age and attended Vancne County public schools where he graduated from Southern Vance High School in 1992. Later, he attended ITT in Houston, Texas, and received an associate degree in heating and air conditioning. He was a self-employed auto mechanic.

Survivors include his parents, Frank James and Jannie Wilson Ellison of Kittrell; and a sister, Francine E. Johnson of Dallas, Texas.




Stewart Gay (SVHS)

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Stewart Eugene Gay, 39, of 5602 16th Ave., Apt. 101, Hyattsville, Md., died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012.

He was born in Vance County to the late Alfred Eugene Sr. and Elnora Gay Perry.

Gay attended Vance County Public Schools, graduating from Southern Vance High School in 1992. Later, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he joined Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church, remaining a member until his death.

He was a member of the Susie C. Allen Corral & Moye Ensemble, sang with various artists, and was a volunteer at Family Life Community Center. He was employed at Greater Mount Calvary as a receptionist.

Survivors include four sisters, Devone Richardson, Felisha Benson, and Shondra and Crystal Gay, all of Henderson; and two brothers, Christopher Shawn Gay and Cedric Eugene Perry, both of Henderson.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at 3 p.m., at Progressive Faith Missionary Baptist Church by Elder Ronald Allen. Burial will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of Devone Richardson, 723 Foster Road, Henderson. The body will be on view today, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and at the church one hour before the service.

Timothy Lyons (NVHS)

Timothy passed away in a motorcycle accident.

Leslie Nelson Patterson (NVHS)

 Leslie Nelson Patterson, 38, of 530 Community House Road, Henderson, died Friday, March 23, 2012.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of Larkin Henry Nelson of Henderson and the late Constance Faucette Nelson.

Patterson was a homemaker. She was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, the Henderson Woman’s Club, and the Zeb Vance P.T.A. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, Johnny Ray Patterson; three daughters, Brittany Michelle Patterson, Brandy Lynne Patterson and Brayden Nicole Patterson, all of the home; and one son, Bradley Todd Patterson, of the home.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, Youth Ministry, 741 Dabney Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Tommee Reese (NVHS)

Tommee passed away while we were still in high school.  He was a genuine friend, who despite his inabilities, ALWAYS had a smile on his face and never gave up.   

Timothy Reid (NVHS)

Timothy Reid, son of Annie T. Reid and the late Thomas E. Reid, Sr., was born Feb. 3, 1972 in Vance County.  He departed this life on Thursday, March 22, 2001.

He was a member of Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ in Manson ,NC.

Timothy was an employee of Revlon in Oxford, NC for 4 years.

He had one son, Nija Ahmad Reid.

C. Keith Stainback (NVHS)

Many will remember the tragic loss of Keith Stainback in a car accident just days shy of our Jr. Year in High School, the first as Northern and Southern Vance.  I think we will all remember what an impact this loss had on our lives and the void of losing someone so young. 

Jamie Stallings (NVHS)

Jamie was a mechanic with Feeser Chrysler in Henderson prior to his passing from cancer.  He has a son and a daughter and was married to classmate, Vicky Brooks.
